WHO
WE ARE
We are dedicated and committed to empowering young adults, equipping them with the essential knowledge and tools for a successful transition into independent and fulfilling adulthood.
OUR
FOUNDER.
In 1997, Lakeshia Williams, our Founder and Executive Director, began a transformative journey that reshaped her life. Having transitioned into adulthood at 17 without a support system, Lakeshia faced significant challenges. Such as not knowing how to be self-sufficient, handling finances and being a young mother all became obstacles that led to financial struggles, depression, bankruptcy, and even homelessness. These and more personal challenges inspired Lakeshia to write the book "The First Time Adult," which serves as the foundational inspiration for the programs at Project Eleven26.

Many of us adults can remember how overwhelming and lonely it was to enter the world after high school. Especially if you did so without any direction, guidance, or understanding of the most basic things like opening a checking account, renting an apartment, budgeting, building healthy relationships or managing your mental and physical health. Making the wrong decisions and not having the right support system can lead to costly mistakes that affect your life for years to come.

This is why Lakeshia is committed to our mission of empowering young adults, equipping them with the knowledge, tools, and support necessary to transition into adulthood with confidence and competence.
